Undergraduate student success is a major institutional priority. These reports allow users to explore success metrics (persistence, graduation, GPA, probation rates and other curricular milestones) by a variety of academic and demographic attributes.

Campus programs interested in researching undergraduate student success are invited to contact the Office of Institutional Research Planning and Effectiveness to request support.  For support inquiries email IR Help.

IR Interactive Reports allow users to explore data (filter, sort, export, etc.) These reports are available to all faculty and staff using their CSU NetID credentials.

Reports and Descriptions

Undergraduate Student Success displays persistence and graduation rates by a variety of academic and demographic attributes since the fall 2000 cohort of first time and transfer students. This report also has graduation rates among junior cohorts as well as first year probation rates and first year credit completion totals along with completion in math and composition courses.

Student Opportunity Gap Report Provides graphs that show the 2nd fall persistence, 4th fall persistence, 4th year graduation and 6th year graduation rates by demographic attribute (first-generation, gender, racially-minoritized status, Pell recipients, residency, STEM majors, and students recommended for support) over time. This report also includes a summary calculation that shows the additional number of students that would need to achieve the success outcome in order to close the gap.

Student Opportunity Gap Report (High-level report) provides graphs that show the differences (or gaps) in 2nd fall persistence, 4th fall persistence, 4th year graduation and 6th year graduation rates by demographic attribute (first-generation, gender, racially-minoritized status, Pell recipients, residency, STEM majors, and students recommended for support).

GPA Report is a comprehensive grade point average report by college.

First-Year Composition Success describes first year composition behavior with a focus on the success rates (percent of students who successfully complete a composition course at CSU), attempt rates, timing of first composition course as well as persistence and graduation rates by first year composition completion status. Composition course attempts and success include both CSU and transfer courses.

First-year Math Success describes first year math behavior with a focus on the success rates (percent of students who successfully complete a math course at CSU), attempt rates, timing of first math course as well as persistence and graduation rates by first year math completion status. Math course attempts and success include both CSU and transfer courses.

Students Recommended for Support focuses on students recommended for support based on academic needs determined in the admissions process. It describes the demographics and success rates of this group of students as well as the reasons why a student was flagged as SRS and the different institutional supports that are being tracked for the student. This report has restricted access.

Identity Intersections Analysis examines differences in student success at the intersection of race/ethnicity, Pell and first-generation status. Differences across identity groups can be reviewed across CSU overall or by college, department, and program of study.
